How we pick deals

Every deal in this section is on a product one of our reviews has ranked, and the one line of copy under each price is that review's verdict on it. If a product never made a lineup, it never appears here, however deep the discount.

Where the numbers come from

Prices, list prices, savings, deal badges, end times, eligibility and stock all come from Amazon's own product data, read through the Amazon Creators API. Nothing is scraped, estimated or typed in. Every card and page shows the time the numbers were last checked.

  • Each night we sweep every product in our reviews and keep the ones Amazon reports a saving on.
  • Through the day we re-check the deals that move: badged limited-time deals, deals ending within two days, new arrivals and the biggest savings.
  • A deal leaves the site the moment Amazon stops reporting the saving, the deal window closes, or the product goes out of stock. Anything not re-checked within 36 hours is hidden.

How deals are ranked

"Best deals", the default order, is one score per deal, recomputed every hour. Dollars saved carry the most weight and percent off adds to it. A deal moves up when Amazon gives it a limited-time badge, when our review made the product a top, budget or upgrade pick, and when readers have been clicking through to it or to its review in the last 30 days. It moves down when the discount is small in both dollars and percent, which is usually a list-price artifact on a cheap item. Every input is shown on the deal page. You can also sort by dollars saved, percent off, newest, ending soon or price.

The deals front page is stricter: everything on it is under $300 and at least 30% off, because a reader who lands there from a review should see something they can act on today. The full pool, including big-ticket deals with smaller percentages, is one click away under All deals and the category pages.

What we do not do

  • No price-history charts, no "lowest price ever" claims, and no price alerts. We show Amazon's current price and its own comparison basis, nothing more.
  • No coupons, promo codes or other retailers for now. This is an Amazon-only section.
  • No sponsored placements. Ranking is the same formula for every product.
