Rubbermaid Configurations Deluxe Closet Kit, White, 4-8 Ft., Wire Shelving Kit with Expandable Shelving and Telescoping Rods, Custom Closet Organization System, Easy Installation

Why it's worth it

The Rubbermaid Configurations Deluxe kit expands from 4 to 8 feet and goes together without cutting. Telescoping rods and expandable shelves handle odd wall widths, and you can reconfigure the whole thing later without picking up a tool.

Nothing here requires cutting, and that removes the scariest step. Most wire kits expect you to hacksaw a shelf to length. Rubbermaid's telescoping rods and expandable shelves just slide to fit. If the words "cut to fit" are why you've been putting this project off, this is the kit that gets it done this weekend.

It covers the widest range of closets on this list. Four to eight feet, walk-in or reach-in. That's a big span, and it means you're less likely to measure your closet and discover you're between sizes. The hang rods work separately or telescoped together so hangers glide across the full run.
