Why it's worth it

A four-pack of shallow white boxes with drawers that pull toward you instead of lids you have to wrestle off. At 5.88 inches tall they clear more bed frames than almost anything rigid, and four of them will swallow a season of clothes and shoes.

At just under 6 inches tall, these fit where most rigid bins won't. Wirecutter's editors found that standard bed frames usually leave 6 to 9 inches of clearance, and IRIS lists this box at 5.88 inches. On a low frame that margin is the whole ballgame. You still need to measure, especially if a center support beam runs down the middle. But if your bed sits at the shallow end of normal, this box has a real shot.

The drawer is what makes it pleasant to live with. On a normal tote you drag the whole thing out, pry off a lid, then shove it back under. Here the shell stays put and the drawer slides toward you, so you can grab a sweater while the box is still half under the bed. For a once-a-season swap that's a small thing. For the shoes you reach for every week, it's the difference between using the space and forgetting it exists.
