Why it's worth it

A 700-watt handheld with a 240-milliliter tank that runs about 15 minutes per fill. It handles blouses, T-shirts and light cotton without fuss, and it's the one to buy if you steam a couple of things a week and would rather not think about it.

It does one thing, and it does that one thing fine. Seven hundred watts is a fraction of what the Rowenta and Conair pull, and you feel that on anything thick. CNET's reviewers landed in the same place on budget handhelds like this one: capable on lightweight fabrics, slow on denim and wool without multiple passes.

The tank is the surprise here. At 240 milliliters it holds more than the Conair's does and roughly two and a half times what the Steamery carries, and HiLIFE rates it for up to 15 minutes of steam. So you refill less often than the wattage would lead you to expect. The nine-foot cord reaches across a small bedroom without an extension.
