WILSON Golf Profile SGI Men's Complete Golf Set — Regular, Right Hand,Red (Regular)

Why it's worth it

Wilson's Profile SGI is built around super game-improvement shapes: a 460cc driver, wide-soled irons with a very low center of gravity, and an easy-launch sand wedge. If you're worried about topping the ball or leaving it on the ground, this is the set that fights back hardest.

Super game-improvement is a real design category, not just marketing. Wilson pushes the weight low and toward the perimeter of 431 stainless steel irons, and widens the soles. The effect is launch. Wilson says the geometry adds roughly two to three degrees of launch angle for slower swings, which is the difference between a shot that runs along the fairway and one that actually flies.

If you top the ball a lot, the wide sole is the feature that will save your round. Thin, sharp-soled irons dig into turf when you come in steep. Wilson's don't, because there's more metal skidding along the ground under the ball. MyGolfSpy's robot and player testing found super game-improvement irons give up to about 20% more forgiveness on mis-hits than standard cavity backs.
