Why it's worth it

The Tevlaphee runs from your steering wheel down to the brake or clutch pedal, so a thief has to defeat two anchor points instead of one. It telescopes down for glove-box storage and comes with three keys and tape to protect your wheel.

Two points of attack is the whole pitch, and it's a good one. A thief who cracks the steering column still can't press the brake, which on most automatics means the car won't come out of park. Doubling the barriers doubles the time and the noise, and time is the currency that decides whether someone finishes the job or walks away.

It stores better than anything else here except the Uliche. The three-section telescopic body compresses down to about the length of a forearm, so it fits in a glove box or a seat pocket. That solves the real reason wheel locks stop getting used — they're annoying to stow. A lock in your glove box gets used. A lock in the garage doesn't.
