Why it's worth it

Gladiator's 2-by-4-foot GearLoft holds 350 pounds and adjusts from 23 to 37 inches below the ceiling. It's the rack for the leftover spots — over a bench, behind the door track — where a full-size platform simply won't fit.

Two feet by four feet sounds like nothing until you see where it goes. Above a workbench, in the dead space behind the garage door track, over a side door — places a 4x8 can't reach. Owners buy several and scatter them around the ceiling, or mix them with bigger racks to fill in the gaps between joists and lighting.

Treat 350 pounds as a hard ceiling, not a target. This is a rack for holiday bins, sleeping bags, empty luggage and outgrown car seats. It is not where your rolling tool chest goes. The mounting brackets pivot to line up with joists running either direction, which quietly solves the problem that kills a lot of these installs before they start.
