Why it's worth it

Go Rhino's RB20 is a low-profile galvanized steel board with a wide textured step pad and hidden brackets. It costs more than most fixed boards and looks like it came from the factory rather than a box.

Looks are a legitimate reason to buy a running board, and the RB20 is the best-looking fixed option here. The brackets tuck out of sight, and owners repeatedly point out how small the gap is between the board and the body — an inch of daylight is the difference between an accessory and a factory part. Galvanized steel under a textured black powder coat handles salt properly.

The step pad is the functional argument. Go Rhino's engineering data lists a 4.75-inch textured surface and indicates the tread retains most of its slip resistance when wet, compared to a bare metal step. That's a wider platform than any of the nerf bars here, which matters when a kid in wet sneakers is climbing in. It's a flat board, not a tube, so there's no crown to roll a foot off.
