Why it's worth it

The WOPET gets you real smartphone scheduling and a 6L hopper, the largest here among inexpensive models. You give up 5GHz Wi-Fi and some build quality, but for one cat and a weekend away, it covers the basics.

You get app scheduling without stepping up to the premium tier. The WOPET Life app on iOS or Android handles up to 15 meals a day, which is more scheduling headroom than most people will ever use. You can also share access with your partner or a house sitter, so nobody double-feeds the cat because they weren't sure whether the other person did.

The 6L hopper is unusually large for what this costs. That's enough for two small cats, or for one cat across a longer stretch, without daily refills. The container and lid both have safety locks, and the seal keeps out air and moisture, which is what stops kibble from going stale and clumping at the bottom of the bin.
