Why it's worth it

A small, light oven with five settings and no learning curve, sized for four slices of bread or a 9-inch pizza. It runs hot and needs watching, but it's the sensible choice for a dorm, an office or a second oven at the holidays.

It covers the basics and nothing else, which is the point. Five settings — air fry, bake, broil, toast and keep warm — plus a 30-minute timer dial. The cavity takes a 9-inch pizza or four slices of bread. For a dorm room, an office kitchen, a camper, or overflow capacity when you're hosting, that's the whole job description. There's nothing to learn and nothing to configure.

It's small and light enough to move around. Just over nine pounds and about 15.5 inches wide, it drops into the spot where your old pop-up toaster lived. It comes up to temperature quickly, so you're not standing around waiting to reheat two slices of pizza. Owners who bought it as a stopgap keep mentioning it does more than they expected for what it is.
