Why it's worth it

The West Loop 3.0 is the current version of the mug that made Contigo famous, in a 20-ounce size that covers a big morning coffee. You get the push-button AUTOSEAL lid, a lock ring, and the longest heat and cold numbers anywhere in the brand's lineup.

The lid is the whole reason to buy this one. Press the button and drink. Let go and it seals itself, with no cap to twist or lose. Contigo rates that closure as fully leak- and spill-proof, and CNET's mug comparisons found push-button lids like this generally spilled less in inversion and shake tests than plain snap lids. So you can drop it sideways into a backpack and keep walking.

The numbers on the box are the highest in Contigo's range: up to 13 hours hot and 28 hours cold from THERMALOCK vacuum insulation. Those are manufacturer claims under ideal conditions, so treat them as a ceiling rather than a promise. Even so, owners consistently describe coffee poured at breakfast that's still too hot to gulp by mid-afternoon. If you nurse one cup all day, this is the version that forgives you.
