Why it's worth it

Hurtta's Life Savior ECO uses a softer, more pliable flotation material that wraps the body instead of sitting on it, so it balances a dog's weight without fighting the swim stroke. The chest adjustment system and hook-and-loop strips let you tune the fit for thin or stocky builds.

The flotation here is the selling point. It's softer and more flexible than the firm foam panels most brands use, so it conforms to your dog's body and spreads the lift more evenly. For a senior dog swimming to spare their joints, or a dog who gets twitchy in stiff gear, that difference in feel is the thing you'd notice first.

Hurtta's chest adjustment system is unusually good for odd body shapes. Between the buckles and the hook-and-loop strips at the chest, you can snug it onto a narrow-chested whippet or a stocky little bulldog without the vest gapping. The jacket is also light, which matters on a long day in a boat.
