INTEX Challenger Inflatable Kayak Series: Includes Deluxe 86in Kayak Paddles and High-Output Pump – SuperStrong PVC – Adjustable Seat with Backrest – Removable Skeg – Cargo Storage Net

Why it's worth it

The Challenger K2 is a basic 11.6-foot PVC tandem with a removable skeg, adjustable seats, a front cargo net, and a 400-pound capacity. On flat, sheltered water it paddles easily and costs a fraction of what the Sea Eagles do, as long as you respect its limits.

At 11.6 feet inflated, the Challenger sits longer and lower than most entry-level inflatables, and you notice it on the first few strokes. The streamlined hull slips through flat water without much effort, and the removable skeg underneath keeps you pointed roughly where you aimed. For a pond, a sheltered cove, or a lazy river float, it's genuinely pleasant rather than merely tolerable.

It's the most basic boat here, and for a lot of people that's exactly enough. Intex builds it from what it calls SuperStrong PVC, the seats pop out and adjust, and there's a cargo net up front for a dry bag or a lunch. The pump and two 86-inch paddles come in the box, so you can be floating the same afternoon it lands on your porch.
