Why it's worth it
Roughly 80 to 100 assorted polyhedral dice in one bag, in mixed colors and finishes, plus a complete seven-die set in a speckled style made only for this assortment. It turns one player's dice shortage into the whole table's dice supply.
No other gift here makes more people at the table happy at once. Every group has one person who loans dice to everybody else, and a pound of assortment fixes that for good. You get d4s through d20s, sometimes a d30, in opaque, translucent, marble and speckled finishes. Nobody has to wait their turn for the d20 in the middle of a boss fight again.
Chessex is the default dice brand at most game stores, and these come off the same lines. The catch is right there in the description — they're factory seconds, dice that didn't pass inspection for cosmetic reasons. In practice that means a soft edge here, a smeared number there. They roll fine, and most of them look fine too.
