Some people buy the dumb charger on purpose, and this is the one they buy. There's no app to configure, no firmware to update, no Wi-Fi that drops in February. Your car probably already handles scheduling in its own app, which makes the charger's smarts redundant. Owners who chose this specifically after reading about connectivity headaches elsewhere tend to sound relieved.

The build quality is the selling point. The enclosure is steel, sealed to NEMA 4 and IP67, and rated for real weather — snow, rain, desert heat.
