Serta Heated Electric Throw - Shaggy Faux Fur, 5 Heat & Washable

Why it's worth it

Serta's shaggy faux-fur throw is the one you'd actually leave out in the living room. You get five heat settings, ETL certification, a low-EMF design, a three-hour shut-off and a three-year warranty, in exchange for shedding fur and an air-dry you can't skip.

Pick this one up and it doesn't feel like an electric blanket. The cover is long shaggy faux fur, closer to a sheepskin rug than to bedding, and it's the throw here you'd happily leave draped over the arm of the couch. It's 50 by 60 inches with five heat settings, and Serta says the wires are evenly spaced to spread the heat rather than concentrate it in bands.

The safety paperwork is the strongest of our throws. It's ETL certified and independently tested, per the listing, and Serta calls out a low-EMF design if that's something you worry about at home. The auto shut-off runs three hours. Serta also tells you flatly not to leave the controller covered while it's running, which is the easiest mistake to make with any heated blanket and worth repeating.
