GoPro HERO11 Black Mini - Compact Waterproof Action Camera with 5.3K60 Ultra HD Video, 24.7MP Frame Grabs, 1/1.9" Image Sensor, Live Streaming, Stabilization

Why it's worth it

The HERO11 Black Mini shoots 5.3K60 with HyperSmooth 5.0 in a body with no screens and one button. It's roughly 30 percent lighter than a standard HERO11, which is why FPV pilots and helmet-cam riders keep buying it.

Size is the entire argument. Engadget puts the Mini at roughly 30 percent lighter than the standard HERO11 Black, and it's small enough for mounting spots a full-size GoPro won't fit — one owner runs it on an HO scale model train and it clears the tunnels. For FPV freestyle flying, there's nothing to smash, and pilots report shooting 5K30 with stabilization off and never breaking one.

One button is a feature, not a compromise. Press it and it records. There's no menu to scroll, no screen to wake, no setting to fumble with in gloves. Owners who are short on time say they prefer it to the full HERO11 for exactly that reason. The image quality is the same 5.3K60 sensor, and you can pull 24.7MP frame grabs out of the video in the Quik app.

What to know

• –It's rated waterproof, but surfers report the charging door popping open in the water and killing the camera
• –No screens means no framing and no playback without your phone
