Why it's worth it

Sony's Bravia 8 II pairs a QD-OLED panel with the company's XR processor, which remains the best in the business at cleaning up imperfect sources. It's the TV to buy if you care more about how everything looks than about squeezing out the last gaming frame.

Sony's reputation for processing is earned, and it's the reason to pick this over a similarly specced rival. The XR Processor handles motion, noise and upscaling better than anything else here, which matters constantly. Not everything you watch is a pristine 4K HDR master. Old shows, compressed sports feeds and streaming that dips in bitrate all look cleaner on a Sony.

The panel is QD-OLED, same technology family as the Samsung, so you get pure blacks alongside the highest brightness Sony has shipped in an OLED. Quantum dots and XR Triluminos Max push color volume well beyond what a traditional WOLED manages. Skin tones in particular hold up better in bright scenes, where lesser sets flatten them out.
