Why it's worth it

The V8 Origin is a full stick vacuum that pops apart into a handheld for cars, stairs and upholstery. You get much stronger suction and a de-tangling brush head, and you pay for a machine you'll also use indoors.

Nothing else here moves air like this. Dyson's specifications put the V8 at 115 air watts in boost mode, which is a different order of magnitude from the small handhelds above. Practically, that means embedded fur lifts on a slow pass instead of three fast ones. If you've ever given up on a floor mat and thrown it in the wash, this is the machine that stops that habit.

The trigger design is smart for car work. Power only flows while you're squeezing, so you're not draining the battery while you reposition around a car seat or move to the next row. Dyson rates it at up to forty minutes in the standard mode, which is more than enough time to do a full interior properly rather than in shifts.
