Why it's worth it

The MagicFroth heats up to 17 ounces of milk and froths up to 8.5, which covers two drinks instead of one. Three temperatures crossed with three froth levels give you nine combinations, including cold foam and plain warm milk for cocoa or matcha.

Get this one if you're making coffee for someone besides yourself. The pitcher heats roughly twice what the Aeroccino holds, and it froths enough for two proper drinks in a single go. If mornings in your house mean two lattes and a hot chocolate, that's one cycle instead of three, plus one rinse instead of three. Capacity is the least glamorous spec on this page and the one you'll notice most.

Nine functions sound like marketing, but the grid behind them is simple. You pick a temperature — cold, warm or hot — and a froth level — stir, foam or extra foam. That's it. Stir with hot gives you steamed milk for a flat white. Extra foam with cold gives you the thick cap that sits on iced coffee. Four buttons and a big display, no menus to memorize.
