Why it's worth it

The Nural is the rare dryer that gets your hair dry quickly without cooking your scalp along the way. Sensors track heat continuously and pull back when the dryer gets close to your head, so you can dry at the roots without the burning feeling.

Heat control is the whole argument here. Dyson's engineering specs say the Supersonic line measures air temperature 40 times per second and adjusts airflow to keep it from climbing past 302°F. The Nural adds scalp protect mode, which targets roughly 130°F at the scalp when you get in close. That's the part you'll actually feel — you can dry at the roots without flinching, which is where most people rush and end up with a half-dry underlayer.

It's also noticeably quiet for how much air it moves. RTINGS measured the Supersonic at 83 dB, about 10 to 12 dB below comparable professional dryers from BaBylissPRO and ghd. Ten decibels is not a small gap. It's the difference between a dryer you can use at 6 a.m. next to a sleeping kid and one that wakes the house. Owners with long hair mention this constantly.
