Why it's worth it

The Hubba Hubba LT is built around a symmetrical hub-and-pole system that pitches fast and holds its shape when the wind picks up. It gives up a little interior volume to the Copper Spur but adds more organization and a rainfly designed to keep water out of the doorway.

MSR built this one around a true rectangular floor plan with nearly vertical walls, which matters more than it sounds. Thick rectangular sleeping pads — even the 4-inch-plus ones people actually sleep well on — fit side by side without one edge riding up the wall. If you've spent a night sliding off a pad because the tent tapered, you'll notice the difference immediately.

The rainfly details are where the LT earns its keep. The vestibule doors integrate rain gutters, so water running off the fly gets channeled away rather than dumping onto your boots when you unzip. Two large kickstand vents at the ends stay open in rain to keep air moving. That combination — sealed but breathing — is what separates a tent you can live in during a three-day storm from one you merely survive.
