Why it's worth it

An 1800-watt toaster oven that flips up against your backsplash and gives back about half its counter space when it's idle. It air fries, bakes and toasts about as well as boxier ovens, as long as your food isn't tall.

It gives you your counter back. Flip the whole unit up against the backsplash and it takes about half the space, which is the difference between an oven you own and one you actually leave out and use. At under eight inches tall in its cooking position, it also slides under most upper cabinets without the usual clearance anxiety.

It still cooks like a real toaster oven. Eight functions cover air fry, roast, broil, bake, pizza, toast, bagel and dehydrate. It handles four pounds of ingredients, a 12-inch pizza, six slices of bread or six chicken breasts. Ninja's OvenCrisp setup pairs infrared heat with circulating air, and owners say fries and chicken come out crisp, often faster than the standalone fryer they replaced.
