Rain Design mStand Laptop Stand (Silver, mStand)

Why it's worth it

The mStand is one piece of brushed aluminum that raises your screen 5.9 inches and never moves again. It doubles as a heat sink, routes your cables through a two-inch hole in the back, and matches Apple hardware so closely it looks like it came in the box.

One piece of aluminum means zero wobble. There are no hinges to loosen and no joints to creep. The mStand is a single machined shape with real mass behind it, so a laptop sits on it the way a monitor sits on a desk. If wobble is what made you give up on your last stand, this is the fix.

The body pulls heat off the laptop. Aluminum conducts, and Rain Design shaped the mStand so the laptop's underside meets a large metal surface. On a passively cooled MacBook Air grinding through a long call or a big export, that helps. It's not a cooling pad, but it beats a slab of plastic.
