The approvals are what you're actually buying. The listing claims ILSAC GF-7A, API SQ and API SP, plus GM dexos1 Gen 3, Ford WSS-M2C961-A1 and Chrysler MS-13340. If you drive a newer GM vehicle, dexos1 Gen 3 isn't optional — GM requires it, and that specification adds eight oxidation and LSPI tests the previous generation didn't include.

Cold starts are where this one earns its keep. Valvoline formulates for low-temperature flow, and the brand says the oil carries 50% more antioxidants than ILSAC GF-6 requires, which is meant to slow oxidation when the oil gets hot and stays hot. If your commute is short and your winters are real, that's the combination you want.
