Discount the peak figure the way you should discount all of them, and what's left is still a lot of headroom for a budget unit — enough that a V8 owner on a tight budget has a real option.

It's genuinely tiny. At roughly seven inches long and an inch and a half thick, it slides into a glove box more easily than the GB40 does, which is unusual for something rated this high. If you want big-engine capability without giving up trunk space, this is the shape that does it.
