Why it's worth it

The Astro A50 X routes HDMI 2.1 video and audio from your PS5, Xbox and PC through one base station, and you switch between them from the ear cup. It charges on the dock, so the headset is always ready.

If your desk has more than one console on it, this is the headset that fixes your cable problem. The base station takes HDMI 2.1 passthrough at 4K 120Hz, so video and audio both route through it and you switch systems with an on-ear control. Tom's Guide calls the simultaneous charge-and-connect dock its defining advantage, and there isn't a real alternative that does the same thing.

The mic is the best in this group. Astro runs a 48kHz full-bandwidth uplink, which is broadcast territory for a wireless boom mic. Owners repeatedly note that both the mic and the speakers are good, which is rarer than it should be — usually you get one or the other. If you stream, or your friends have complained about how you sound, this is the fix.
